If you want something lower mile, Gen IV will be easier to find. I'm not a big fan of drive by wire, myself (my dailey has it) but that's the worst I can say about Gen IV. Gen IV does supposedly have better rod bolts.

I'll try to come up with an event where we can all get together out here. Maybe a car show. That would be cool.

im searching for a good source for my future swap
What's the best route for finding this combo
I plan on a single turbo swap in the future
At least in my area, a complete 5.3 goes for $350-600 on Craigslist. A complete rough donor truck can be bought for $1k-$1500...... but other than being able to hear the engine run, it's not worth the hassle IMO.

So I just agreed upon a 5.3 with 120k on it
A complete 4l80e with converter and the correct flexplate
A harness set up to run in any car
Swap mounts of a unknown source
And the pcm
The pcm needs vats deleted.

I agreed upon 1k

Good?

Good. I was worried I jumped to soon
I keep hearing about 250 dollar 5.3s
And was kinda worried

I've never seen one though. And I felt that this motor has an actual 4l80 coming with it so if I choose to use those Holley turbos I can do it without much worry

Sounds like an abandoned attempt. Could be good, could be bad.

If you have a boroscope, you might take it and a spark plug socket. The best way to make sure it isn't a 4.8 is to look at the top of the pistons. 4.8's have flat tops. 5.3's don't. I think you made a good deal. 120k miles doesn't scare me a bit. My 5.3 in my truck has 158k miles on it and it runs like new as far as I'm concerned. The bottom end on the LS family of engines is so stable you just don't see much in the way of bearing wear.
