I found a 1999 5.3 Vortec motor on Kijiji for 800 dollars. What trans would be used with this motor and would the 7.5 handle it and what would you do with the wiring harnesss?

As far as I know they won't bolt up to anything old like a th350/400 without some adaptation. I don't think it'll work with a 200-4R or 700r4 either. Pretty sure a 460le will work. LS1GN (i think) is using a 6.0 LQ9 with a carb set-up. He's using (and dragging with) a 7.5 with a girdle cover. Might be a posi. I don't remember. Either way he's using it to make 12 second passes and it's holding up. You're only using a 5.3 (about 327ci) so it shouldn't be a big deal if you don't beat on it, assuming the rear is still in decent shape.

It bolts right up to the old trans like 350/400/2004r just one bolt doesnt go in and the flex plate holes have to be elangated lol I think thats a word basically ovaled out

Is the $800 with the wiring harness? Do you plan on leaving it stock with FI or going with a carbed setup? Oh and the 5.3 is 325 cubic inches 8)

It has everything but Powersteering Starter Alternator. It has the mounts and injectors, wiring harness 150 Km's on it. As for trans I only have the 200 metrics 3 speed sh*tter. and a 7.5 non posi with 2.41 gears with 55 km's

Also another thing I was considering was a 3800 supercharger... one is on sale for 250 dollars would that fit onto a old 3.8???
Well if it does bolt up then you'll have to switch to fuel injection. I don't think you can use those with a carb.
And then you'll have to figure the pulley out.

yeh I figured it would be alot of sh*t and in the end not worth it. My last option and the one I just spotted is a 5.7 Lt1 with a trans from a 94 buick roadmaster for $550.. now my delemia is I have to do all the work my self will I be able to hook up all the wires for the computer. and I know also that engine is detuned so what can I do to get her up and going.

The 3800 is probably not worth the time/effort/money, I was thinking of going this route myself but after looking into it no thanks. The LS engines will bolt up to any gm sbc bolt pattern trans will small mods to the flywheel. Look up "beeterolds" on youtube he has a few cool vids up.
