Did you happen to see if there was a cage nut, body side? Assuming we're talking about under the 1/4 window, for some reason, my 67 had a cage nut in the body and the factory put a cushion there. I added a mount and bolt; figured "what the hell? why not?"

No on my 70, these marshmallows sat midway under the door and on top of the spring pocket. The one under the 1/4 window has a cage nut hidden in the floor and you have to drill a hole in the floor to get at it when the cage breaks.
