If that rear end came from a leaf spring car, you won't be able to use it . I don't think you could weld the "Ears" to the top of the pumpkin... I recall hearing somewhere that the pumpkin isn't good to weld on...Might wanna check on that. But if it's from an "A" body car, good score. Keep us posted 8)

The pumpkin is cast so your right about it being a problem to weld the ears on....

You can go coil to leaf, but leaf to coil spring is a problem.

it's not a complete loss, you only paid 75 and if you pick up another 8.2 from a coil car you have spare parts. Like I said I paid 600 for mine.

I really hadn't thought about it being cast, but that just means I will talk to my welders at work, and see what they say. If it can be done correctly, they can do it.

....and if it can't be done, I will just put it up for sale, like I have my 455 and THM400....in the for sale section now, and pass this good deal on to someone who can use them....

welding cast is normally used just to repair the cast and not welding parts to it
