welding cast is normally used just to repair the cast and not welding parts to it

it's a b*tch to weld cast....you have to thoroughly preheat the part, then weld, then cool down the whole part very gradually and hope it's ok...I tried welding a crack on a cast exhaust manifold just to try it and after a few tries I thought I had it. It lasted a few days on the car... :|
