7.5 rebuild questions

Its been a few years but the 7.5 had 3.73 rear gears in it, if I remember right he said that the carrier was out of an 4X4 S10. The 383 was health and I want to say that he said his best guess was at least 400 ft-lbs if not more.

For what it's worth, is the reading you are getting with the set-up paint or dry?

Have you measured or matched the set-up depth that should have been etched into the back of your pinion gear?

You mention you saved your original pinion bearing, did you have someone or did you hone out the original pinion bearing to be slip fit for setting up this rearend to get to the desired pinion depth? I have a couple I have honed out for set-up.
There was nothing etched into this pinion. There was a number painted on that matched the number on the ring gear. I pressed off the old gear and reamed it out to make the set up bearing

I presses on the new bearing and spent the day assembling and dissassembling to get the solid spacer and shims lined out since i am not using a crush sleeve. It took a few tries to get that and get the rotational torque to be correct. Hopefully i can get back to it in a couple of days to set the backlash
