ok so the guy is going to let me test fit the wheels without tires
how much room should i a lot for tires to do some meausurments?
ill post some pictures when i get the wheels

Set a straight edge, etc on top of the inner lip of the wheel and measure from that to the inside mounting surface. That distance is backspacing. Most people say 4.5 to maybe 4.75" is the max you'll be able to go without spacers. If it's 5" or more and you need spacers, go conservative because then you'll be pushing the wheel out towards the fender lip.

also ive been doing my homework,
it looks like they are KMC Stealths.
I havent found one set that was 9.5 inches wide only 8.5 inches wide.
This should help me tons if they are only 8.5 inches wide right?

id really like to run 275/40 but looks like 255/40 is what is recommened

I think you're confusing backspacing with rim width. Backspacing is basically the distance between the backside mounting surface of the rim to the edge. Google backspacing and I'm sure you'll find a ton of info. As for actual tire sizes, I would go to Tirerack.com and find some wheels in the size you are looking at; click on specs and it will show you actual widths and recommended wheel widths.

Looks to be a 275/45/18 according to Tirerack, I would think you could get away with a 285; maybe someone else will add some info:

summit racing is should the biggest i could go is 255/40/18
thats still a pretty wide tire isnt it? i just dont want people behind me thinkin i have these little *ss tires on my car
