Cars can be frustrating. One of my collector bolts wouldn't go tight but the nuts won't come off. Seriously spent hours try to remove it. No noticeable leak with two holding, so I will leave it. The way things go.

Picked up the new battery last night and the new starter today but I'm not putting them in. I promised Lauren I would take her to the Windward Beach car show that takes place once a year down the street from our house.so that's it maybe I'll get some pictures for the spotted thred. As far as the car tomorrow is another day

Thanks I am quite frustrated.i literally never had this much trouble trying to get one running ever. I'm usually the guy that has the solution other people bring there problems to now I've changed so many things and had so much back apart if it dose run I probably won't know what was wrong. Hopefully this weekend I'll get to find out if that trans is good or not just have to wait and see.

It finally stopped raining. I'm just having a hard time finding the ambition to do more work on the car especially wile it's wet in a wet driveway but at the same time I need to know if it's fixed.i think the disappointing attempts have taken there toll on my additud

It still makes no sense to me. However when I was in PA last weekend I had a chance to talk to my Uncle Bob the man that taught me much of what I know and he told me a story about an olds motor he threw together years ago that did the same thing.
His memory is faded however he remembered that for the life of him he could not make it run and in desperation he lined up the timing marks as they should be and clocked the distributor 180° out and the car ran. Well I can't say mine runs but it made a few rotations under it's own power WTF I'm going to put the valve covers and timing cover back on now so it stops leaking oil everywhere and get it to hold water for now so I can play with it some more. I'm not getting to excited yet but I think my feeling of doom and failure is lifting so for now a deep breath and I'll keep plugging. Stay tuned

Took a break to eat but I'm making progress

Trim the bottom seal. If one or both of the dowels aren't seized in, removing them helps get the cover back in. RTV does help on the bottom seal for lube. Olds were smart not running the distributor through the intake, they should have modified the front cover from the Chevy design, especially with the stupid factroy nylon cam teeth.

That's kinda what I did the 2 corners of the pan gasket didn't Fair well in the cover removal so I trimmed them with a razor blade and rtv ed the corners also the lower seal for lube worked pretty well with some persuasion
