Ok I'm back home and if I'm going to update you I better do it now before I fall asleep LoL
I didn't get any help but all my electrons were firing and I actually remembered how to do this stuff. I got it out no problem and nothing broken. I did however notice it needs a heater control valve. I think it always did and I just never noticed with all the other problems it had.
Sometimes it's good to see the empty hole.
I pulled it complete because it's easier to remove and install the accessories on the stand. Barry from B&B machine stopped by after I got the intake manifold off and noticed there's no preload on the lifters in some holes so there's the tap. He told me to get it apart by Monday at 2:00 and he will tank and measure everything for me. After he left I took off the valve covers and oil pan. There's quite a bit of metallic in the oil and everywhere else.
I also took loose all the main caps to look at the bearings there not wiped out but they don't look new anymore that's for sure.
I really don't think a bearing with under 3 hours total run time should look like that and I can feel the groove's in them. There also quite rough to the touch. Nothing much else I can do until Monday morning on disassembly because it's Easter tomorrow but I have until 2:00 on Monday to get it ready for the tank. Besides I forgot to bring my harmonic balancer puller to work so I'll do that Monday morning.
Good thing my bosses are in Florida I turned one of the car-o-liner frame machines into an oldsmopile
New parts on the left and old parts on the right. For now I'm just going to have some iced tea and then take a shower. Tomorrow is Easter so I'm sure the wife will keep me busy around the house.
I almost forgot the new cam going in is a 69 400 cam brand new from my brother his buddy Don from the olds club gave it to him for me it's 472/472 lift 285/287 @50 so it should still sound pretty good for a small block olds.
That's it until Monday
