That's a 71 olds 350 left behind at the machine shop unclaimed for many years! Now it's mine unfortunately I don't have any 10 under bearings so now I'm on the hunt to get them overnight from somewhere??? You may be wondering how I pulled that off in a few hours... I know a guy

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury and all you riff Raff that reads my thread lol what set of pistons should I be using they look to be a different compression ratio I think my old ones are for higher compression

The dish in my old ones looks to be much smaller than the other ones there both used and have about the same amount of wear. Also what head is better my ported #6 or the stock #7 that came with the other block?

Nice, even a N crank. The 71 had 24cc dish. Your 70 block either had 6cc(4bbl) or 14cc(2bbl) pistons. The #6 and #7 are basically the same head. I believe #7 have unequal height spring pads. Use the #6 especially if close to fresh and if W31 valves were used. Good luck, so far you have some.

Will do I'll put them in the tank today. No one had bearings so I got a set coming from rock and I paid for the expensive shipping I should have them Thursday so assembly will be a thrash because I need to drive it out of the shop by Monday morning. I'm going to spend today cleaning parts priming and painting. Boring but a necessity.

The new block got blown out and primed.

I boxed up all the parts I'm using to throw them in the hot tank there now in the shop truck waiting for B&B to open. I'm probably going to be selling a bunch of Oldsmobile 350 parts in the near future provided this motor comes out good. I'll probably sell the 70 block with the crank that needs to be cut and the #7 heads I'd like to put it together but I really don't think I have any time for that and I want to get on with other things.

If anyone is interested pm me but not until I'm back together and I won't be selling anything that I need for one of my 455s. Don't know how much more I'll be updating without bearings I can't do anything but clean parts and scrape gaskets. Of course I'll probably stare at my crankshaft a little.

I got a present in the mail from my buddy Bruce in Maryland Today when I got home.

I gotta bring him a care package when I get this thing back together I think he's an hour and a half away that's a good break in run. I also got my power steering line and heater control valve.

Can't wait till the bearings come. The ported #6 heads went in the hot tank today with the pistons and the oil pump drive and all the pushrods went in the tumbler. Tomorrow morning I'm going to finish going over all the gasket surfaces and scrape out the ring lans so it's all ready for assembly. Then I'll probably spend the rest of the day cleaning up the engine compartment and painting parts.

I'm heading back to the shop I figure the more I clean everything the better it will be sure wish I had the bearings I forgot to screen shot the order number so I can't even check tracking and I can't find it in my email. It may have gone to my wife but she's at work and heard enough about parts this week. I did shoot her a text and ask her to look through. I could probably be in trouble with the shop owners if I don't get it done before Monday and it's starting to weigh heavy on my mind.

No pictures today I'm sure you don't need to see me cleaning dirty oil galleys or scraping ring grooves or painting parts I'm going to paint again. However can you read this grind number? I can't maybe because I'm an old blind body man or maybe because I'm affected by the brake cleaner. What the hell is this cam?
