BUILD THREAD 81 Buick/Olds Turbo Wagon 02/15/2024 More Parts!

Hey Jim,
I hope you're finally able to get to your own stuff. What's your dad's '50 Plymouth like?
It's not a wagon is it? I knew a guy that had a '50-'51 Plymouth wagon...cool 2-dr body style.
I had a friend years ago that had a '50 Dodge 4-dr. That car was extra roomy inside.

Me too Jack. My dads 50 Plymouth is a 4 door model, strait flathead 6, all original! He picked it up a year or so a go since it looks exactly like his first car. He redid the wood grain on the dash, rebuilt the carb, new exhaust, clutch/pressure plate, fuel pump, brakes, tune up, wiring, and led lighting for safety. He had the front seat re-upholstered in old material. It looks really cool and he plans on just beating around in it.

I really like the 2 door wagons!

Jim,
I don't recall if those cars had the Fluid Drive transmission. I remember riding in an old Plymouth...it might have been a '48 with Fluid Drive. It had an automatic transmission with a clutch pedal. You were able to start out in 3rd gear and not stall out.

I would've liked to have gotten my hands on my friend's Plymouth wagon. I think it had a GM V-6 and rack and pinion steering.

The are definitely cool cars. this one is a 3 on the tree, I haven't driven a column shifted manual in a LONG time.

Sounds like your dad enjoys playing with the Plymouth. I guess it's good therapy for him.
The last vehicle that I've driven with a three on the tree was my old '64 Ford Econoline van.

Jack, he does, he has so many cars. He usually fully restores them and moves to the next one, he hardly drives them.

Thank you! I can't wait to get back at it. I have a got a few more things to do on the family fleet and the house, but I'll be back at it soon.

Managed to work on the wagon a little bit last night. I finished up the hydroboost/steering lines. I have one more flare to make. I also got the fan bolted in. Since the radiator is so much thicker than the stocker, I had to shorted the bots a bit so they didn't poke the radiator. The, I was able to refill the cooling system and fir it up to check for leaks in all the hardline I did. Hopefully I can get some more of the little things done, I have a huge list off little things to accomplish.

Managed to get the mirror temperature sensor mounted, the Ally pump relay mounted, and more wiring done.

I am doing the wiring on the inside now for the rear view mirror. I have to run the temperature sensor wires through the firewall bulkhead connector.

Hopefully I'll get the rest of the interior wiring done tonight.
