Jim,

I wish I had half of your patients and all of your fabrication talent! I have all these ideas in my head but know the best I can do is sh*t hammer some of them together. You on the other hand, see it, think about it and do it. Bravo!

The wagon you're building is like a flash forward of something GM would have built had the rear wheel mid sized platform stayed around. In todays world, GM would consider equipping a wagon with a turbocharged V6 in a heartbeat. Building an IROC wagon, probably not so much.
Best I can hope to do is make it look like GM built it, kinda like the experimental Trans AM wagon I have photos of.

Keep it up man, don't mind telling you I steal ideas shamelessly. Got any recent photos of the car?

Scott THANK YOU. I can't say I have a ton of patience, but it is usually there when I need it. Of the course of the years I figured out all the nice little features I like, like the power stuff and the extras. It should make for a unique ride. :wax:

I am looking forward to seeing your car come together. I had a line on a Iroc front clip off of an El Camino, aftermarket of course, and almost went that route.

Oh, I have a few things I have done that I got from other people 😀, no harm in that, that's why I share them.

Jim,
I once thought of going with the El Camino SS/ Choo-choo front clip, but they just don't look right on a wagon. It looks out of proportion. They do look good on an El Camino, however.

I like a lot of the subtle refinements that you've been adding to the car.

Thanks Jack!

I kinda though the same thing, though I did see a black wagon with the choo choo nose on craigslist local to me. And it was a fine example. Maybe it was the color, I don't know. I guess it all depends. Kinda of like the laguna chevelles in 73-75. Some I like, some I don't

My little brother had a 78 350/4spd we put the choo choo nose on, and painted it black, black interior. Sharp looking when it was done.

Jim,
I think color can make or break a particular look. I have seen a nicely done Malibu wagon with the Choo-choo nose, and it looked rather nice. It was a two tone black and...gunmetal grey, if I'm not mistaken. ..and on the other hand, I saw another wagon with the nose and was painted a shade of metallic red, and it just didn't look right. I think with that look, you need an aggressive wheel and tire combo.

I know what you mean about the '73-'77 Chevelles. I was never real crazy about that body style, but the Laguna nose really enhances it.

Your brother's car was a Malibu coupe? It sounded nice.

I agree. My brothers car, the black one was actually an El Camino. But the nose is now on his 78 coupe. It looks pretty damn good.

In the end, I enjoy the look of the subtle mods, like the bumper tucking and reshaping, mind body mods, etc. I tend to start going overboard, ,and I have to real myself in because I do plan on driving this car almost every day.

Jim,
I like the subtle mods. People will look at the car, and sometimes not be able to distinguish what's different about it. When I look at your car, I forget that it started life as a Buick Century. I keep thinking it's an Oldsmobile...It may as well be an Oldsmobile after it's done...well, at least in body mods anyway. Although the heart and soul of the car is Buick.

I agree, Its titled as a Buick, but it may as well be an olds.

Scott hooked me up. I have been needing the front door rubber conduit/bellows for the wagon. I had one but it was in sh*t shape.

This is what I received:

Brand spanking new! Scott, YOU ARE THE MAN!

As a side note, I have been distracted the past few days working on this:

A 1932 Ford 5 window coupe.

Jim,
Wow!! Those boots, or bellows are brand spanking new. You wonder where Scott finds this stuff...😎 I'm glad you guys were able to help each other out.

That '32 five window coupe is nice. Is that one of your dad's treasures? Man, I always had a thing for '32 coupes since I was a young boy at the tender age of 9yrs old starting to read Hot Rod Magazine, Rod & Custom, Car Craft, etc.
