nice build you have going on

how old are you? just wondering cuase you said this is your first car.
Im turning 17 soon, and ive got a cutty myself. getting to be more and more teens on here.

what trans are you putting in?

What rear end do you have in yours? Somehow I ended up with a posi 373, you may wanna see if you havent already,

Did you get to drive it with the 455?

Yea I missed that one also. I thought he was going with a Grand National motor and going up on power from the 455. Instead it gets casterated in the name of keeping the boy safe and gas mileage. Did you get to enjoy it a bit before the motor came out? You will have to let us know what you think after you drive it with the v6. Actually isnt the Monte v6 a 229? How much did you end up spending on rebuilding the v6? Let us know what it get for mileage when she in. I know I got 17mpg with the 509 on a road trip once running 70 to 75mph. Probably because it was just loafing along and not working. If you don't like it you can always ask dad if he would like to use it to power that 4240 tell him it would save fuel.

Yep, got to drive it with the 455. When I first drove it the timing was completly screwed up and it didnt like to start. Got the timing solved and get some new batery cables for it and it ran like a new motor. Drove a few sleds and four wheelers but the 455 is a whole different animal.

THe new trans is a 350.

Gears are peg leg raod cruisers for sure. I am guessing in the mid 2's. One thing I gotta get around to is actually check the gear ratio.

Right now Im 15. Yeah, Im young but working on the car is fun. Who needs video games?

It is a buick 231. Nobosy knows anything about these carbed turbo motors but with a little work they run a lot faster. Rebuild cost got expensive at $1000 because so much was bad with it. But, I would end up spending more than that getting the 455 actually streatable. It would have needed an 8.5" axle, a 400 trans, most likely a repaint, new carb, new accesory brackets, new headers, and numerous other little things. Still got plans for the 455 though.

dang ur awfully knowledgable for 15, I have been workingon cars since 15, but it wasnt until recently where I really am starting to understand them. eh, video games are alright to kill time, I pull out my 360 1-2 times a month to play some racing games lol.

Hmm, it looks a little lower in the front. Somethings up, or in reality, down.

Needs a radiator, rad hoses, S-plug wires and its ready to fire!

things are looking up probably because you pulled an 850 anchor out and put a 400 pound paper weight in. Try cutting the front springs or getting lowering spindles if you want the lower stance. Nice work for a 15 year old, wish more young people would realize there is more to life than video games. Lookes like you've got a great start.

Well the good news is, it moves! I am super happy with how it runs. Temp is at 185 all the time, and idles great. Rides a bit like a boat, and the steering is completely dead but it does sound really good.

Ran it through the wash yesterday and I now know where the rear window leeks. Its more of a torrent than a leak but it shouldnt be too huge of a deal. Car was still dirty after that so I ended up giving it a home wash today and it looks better, but the paint is still dull, and it is still dirty. I used half a roll of paper towls just cleaning the front windsheild. This thing must have been burried for 10 years or something.

Going to be taking the trip to the big G yard in Willmar MN in a few weeks or so. Going to be hunting for some better looking/cleaner interior stuff. The interior thats in it stinks (literally). Not to mention the seats are flat, and the carpet was spray painted black.

Heading out to Rohner's eh? I love that place. I've been meaning to make another run out there as soon as I have the extra funds to allow it.
LOTS of Cutlass's there... Though I don't know if you'll even be able to get into a lot of them since they're stacked so tightly together. Also, unfortunately a lot of them have been exposed through either open or broken windows, so it's a gamble if you'll find any "nice" interior parts...
