So heres the cable I have. It's a little longer than the one NCTyphoonKid pulled from his car. Im thinking it may be a design change or maybe specific for an OD transmission. Any input?

Yeah the original one I have measured at 24 and a half inches from end to end not sure what I need to change to make another cable work.

RegalBegal That appears to be a 200-4R OD bracket. Not sure of the cable. There's sometimes a part number stamped into the cable sheath. I can't make out the one in your picture but there seems to be some numbers on the side.

Cable needed for the 3 speed is p/n 22500578 which superseded to 22500579.

The 4 speed cables were 22519497 which in 1990 superseded to 25537476.

Thanks. I'll check it when I get home.

Yeah, at first blush, parts book shows 84-87 G-body Monte Carol floor shift "Coded MW" as part number 10026082 with MW9 transmission (TH200-4R). What you have there is a 4-speed OD transmission cable.

Another MYSTERY SOLVED! But unfortunately, this cable won't work for the 3 speed. The code for the 22500579 cable could be either MR or MS. I have no code information on the 22500578 cable.

Good to know that the cable won’t work. Hopefully the eBay genuine gm one will be the correct one if not I’m not sure what to do other than start posting in the wanted sections

If you can’t find a replacement I used a b&m shift cable on mine with my lighting rods the shifter end was a very minor mod and under the car I made an adjuster sleeve to precisely tune it in works awesome but if your under the car your going to know it’s not stock
