'83 Cutlass Cruiser Build Thread

Been debating adding the vinyl woodgrain trim around the car once it's painted. Should I do it?

Been out a few times now with the wagon and it hasn't been running quite right... It's due for some maintenance anyways so I'll start chipping away at that soon.

In other news I hit the junkyard Friday and snagged the last two interior pieces I've been missing...

A nice upper seatbelt anchor cover in the correct color... It's actually from a Delta 88, B-bodies use the same piece...

Next score was an ashtray for a center console...

And I also bought a set of console mounting brackets.

There was a car at the yard I was hoping to take some easy measurements from, but somebody cut the floor out of it since I was last there...
More on the console project later, it's kinda far down the to-do list at this point...
PM Injectedcutty for the measurements. He has a sketch.

New fuel filter, oil changed, chassis lubed...
New cap, rotor and coil...
Plugs and wires only have about 12K on them since I replaced them 6 years ago so I left them.
Seems to run much better!

very nice! I am missing driving mine this year.

It has been so hot that I've only had it out a few times...
I officially regret removing the A/C lol
The non a/c vents work well when you're moving, but if you're not you cook...

I hear ya there. I will never remove a/c voluntarily unless it is strictly a 1/4 mile car!

Yikes! Summer went by quick!!
Right after my last post in July, I put the wagon into storage to free up the garage for some other projects...
What should've been a few weeks turned in to almost 3 months, until Sunday morning lol
I had to replace the 11 year old battery, but it otherwise fired right up.
Now that the weather is not so miserably hot, it was a perfect day for some cruising and a car show!
It's nice to have the car back home, it makes the garage feel huge compared to having the Roadmaster squeezed in!

Trying to get the miles in before the snow flies! Bit of a cold snap lately but the wagon doesn't mind...

That is until my water pump went out yesterday morning on the way home from work... Made a big mess but nothing is hurt.

Spraying off the engine compartment with the hose when it's 22* outside isn't ideal, but we'll get it all squared away this weekend...

Well as usual it takes twice as long as I hope lol
Paid extra for my parts to be here by last Friday, but they didn't show up until Sunday afternoon... Thanks DHL!
But at least I got the car cleaned up.
Yesterday I finally got the pump swapped out and threw on a fresh pair of belts.

And it's been lovely cruising weather so I even snapped a couple fresh pictures that aren't in my driveway for a change haha!

Still decent weather ahead so I'll be getting as much cruising in before storage as I can!

Well, I guess we're done cruising for the year...
Had it out on the 6th for the last time, then it rained all last week...
And now the snow is officially here.
I've got a few projects to chip away at over the winter...
I'll keep ya posted... Stay warm!

Mini update!
Tackled a small project since it's been too cold to be very productive elsewhere...

Found an ashtray for my center console out at Rohner's last trip but it was SUPER rusty inside...
I ran it thru the media tumbler at work, soaked it in evaporust for a day or so, then ran it thru the tumbler again.
There are two tiny pin holes but otherwise it cleaned up really good!
Not sure if I'll spend the $ to get it replated but at least it's presentable...
