'83 Cutlass Cruiser Build Thread

Been debating adding the vinyl woodgrain trim around the car once it's painted. Should I do it?

Put the wagon into storage for the winter today... 🙁 and the Caprice will follow in the next few days.

The weather is still pretty nice here, and this is earlier than I usually park it, but I bought my old truck back today from my buddy that I sold it to so I could have a winter beater again. Without the extra driveway space I used to have, I needed to get it out of the way...

I drove it everyday, and racked up well over 6,000 trouble free miles this summer. If only I could say the same for the 442.
I've put just over 14,000 miles on it since I started driving it after the motor swap. The car itself has just over 98,000 and I have no idea how many miles are on the motor/trans. Not bad for a car pulled out of a junkyard...

A couple pics I snapped before I put the car away...

Went out to the storage spot and checked on the wagon a couple days ago... sitting just how I left it...
We've gotten really lucky this winter (or lack-there-of), and I'll probably be able to get the car out in the next 4 or 5 weeks unless we get some huge late-season snow falls....
I can't wait, cuz I'm getting sick of driving my bomber pick-up!

I think this year I'll finally be able to get the car painted!! *knock on wood*...
I've got a lot of projects to get done on the fleet, but I'm optimistic that either this fall or next spring the wagon will be sporting a fresh coat of green paint... and then woodgrain... 8)

Hurry up spring!

Picked up a pair of brown bucket seats for the wagon earlier this week.
I need to get them re-covered before I put them in because some mice decided to chew the daylights out of the passenger-side seat cushion, so it might be a while before they end up in the car.
Kind of a shame, since otherwise they are in great shape.

I've got some days off next week, so hopefully I'll be able to get the car out of storage and start driving it again!

Got the wagon out of storage today!
I hooked up the battery, pumped the gas a few times and it fired right up.
It's been shitty and rainy all day, but it sure is nice to be back behind the wheel of a G-body...

Been driving the wagon for a couple weeks now and it's running great.
Today I left the house and it was shifting into 2nd and 3rd really late and harder than usual.
When I left my buddies place to head home, all I had was 1st gear... :x

Looks like the wagon will be sitting on the sidelines for a bit while I get a new transmission lined up...

I guess considering how many miles I got out of it and how little I have in it, it doesn't really owe me anything...

Well, since most of my stuff is junk, I braced myself for the worst.
Once it dried up outside, I started poking around and found that the vacuum line had fallen off the modulator.
A 2" piece of rubber hose to hook it back up and it's back in action!
What a relief!

Hey Blake.
Glad to hear you're back in commission, and that it was a cheap easy fix. I like 'em when they're like that. 😀
Happy motoring.

Decided to throw my bucket seats in as-is...
The passenger side lower cushion had been half hollowed out by mice, and though I got a replacement cushion, it turns out brown seat covers aren't as easy to come by as the more common colors.
So instead of waiting to get my hands on some and replace the foam all at once, I decided to get creative.
I had a can of that expanding foam stuff, and put a straw on the nozzle and pumped into the hole in the cover.
It's not perfect, but it worked out pretty good... And I don't have to sit in it
