'83 Cutlass Cruiser Build Thread

Been debating adding the vinyl woodgrain trim around the car once it's painted. Should I do it?

I may take you up on that for the bumper fillers and all. I plan on tucking mine and sectioning it to get it nice and tight, so I may not need it, but I won't know till after the holidays and I get started on it.

It is still forward progress! 😀

Just a short question for any one of you guys. I also plan to drop the dash on mine soon. Are the end fillers the same for a Chevy dash as they are for a Pontiac?

Jack, I am fairly certain they are. I don't remember changing them when I put the dash in the Mailbu.

just read thru this! Good work!
I was a little worried when you picked up 2-3 more cars thru the progress of this (I know i get distracted real easy with more than one project at a time). Glad to see your moving forward and still going with wood sides... However, my humble suggesiton paint on the the wood grane. You said you like the campy of the sticker stuff, and that the air brush artists would cost too much, but have you considered doing it your self?
There is a real quick and easy method that I could walk you thru...
Just a real basic explination is you lay down a light tan color, air brush thick streaks of auto air color rootbeer, then take a disposible paint brush (cut cunks out of the brush to create a jagged end) and pull it down in streaks while twisting it... thats it...
if you want it to be darker wait till it dries and shoot the root beer over it to darken the whole surface....

Thanks!
It's crazy to think that it's already been 5 years and over 20K miles since I got the wagon...
I thought long and hard about the woodgrain, believe me!
Not only do I prefer the look of the vinyl, but it's nice to know I can always un-do it if I so desire.

My garage is getting pretty full of wagon parts, and the 442 is having to double as a shelf.
This should help motivate me since the 442 isn't getting out of the garage until all that sh*t is back inside the wagon...
It should be getting it's permanent indoor spot by next week and then we can really blow it apart!

Blake,
It's good to see that your wagon is on the road to improvement. Mine is in the garage currently, but it's stuffed with interior parts, glass, etc. I'm quickly running out of room to store stuff. It would be nice when I can put all the junk back on the car again to free up garage space and make the car whole again.

Jim,
Thanks! I kinda figured those end pieces were the same on all G-bodies.

Haven't made as much progress as I would have liked to by now...
The holidays mixed with some brutal weather really put a damper on things.

Got a few more things left to pull off, then it's just a matter of waiting for good enough weather to blast it.

Blake,
You guys have had some extremely frigid temps. It won't be long when you'll be able to get back to work on it.
Yeah, between the holidays and crazy weather, it certainly puts a crimp on your activities.
