Been debating adding the vinyl woodgrain trim around the car once it's painted. Should I do it?

Blake,
I used the Energy Suspension body mounts #3-4141. I believe they are the same for a coupe/ sedan, and wagon.

that kit fits all G bodies, wagons and El Cominos included

Thanks for confirming that you guys.
I was sure they were the same, but I just couldn't shake that last sliver of doubt lol...

Jim, the rust spot is right at the seam between the floor and firewall.
There is what looks like a small heat shield below the heater box on the other side and I have a feeling that it's trapping moisture behind it. I'll get a better look once I get everything pulled apart.

Blake, my Buick Wagon had a spot very similar in the same area. 🙁

Got some more work done on the wagon yesterday...

First I pulled out the rear cargo floor, and was pleased with how perfect everything was underneath. Not a speck!

Then I started picking away at the rusty seam on the front of the passenger side floor board.
It was just a pin hole in the metal at first, but the screwdriver went right thru...
I felt around underneath the firewall pad with my hand and didn't feel any other moisture or rust so I don't plan on taking it out.
Unless I find another leak somewhere I'll just dig out as much of the bad sealer as I can, weld in a patch, clean it all up and reseal it.

Looked on the other side to see if I could tell how the water was getting in.
There is a small heat shield that attaches to these three studs and I was guessing that there may have been stuff stuck behind it, but when I pulled it off it was nice and clean...

Having one tiny rust spot on the floor is fine with me when the rest of the sheet metal is as clean as it is...

Blake,
Your cargo area is clean as a whistle. If that's all the rust that you've found so far, you're a lucky man.
My car was originally a northern car, so I had a few rust issues to contend with...and of course it had been my daily driver/ beater for over 20 yrs.

The floors and cargo area are looking good. Can't wait to see your progress as the weather gets nicer.

I'll be sure to put the word out before I head to the yard in the spring.

Did a little more work on Thursday and pulled off the shitty molded vinyl 1/4 window trim. What a pain in the *ss!
There was always this tiny bit of scale at the base of the c-pilar, but once I started pushing on it a bit I broke thru...

There was a bit of pitting along the edge as well, but it should clean up just fine.
The passenger side was nice and clean...

Blake,
Are the quarter windows coming out? I guess you're gonna go with the metal mouldings like you did on Lindsay's car.
Those glue in mouldings are real crap..again another good idea from GM..

Blake, please do put the word out before hitting a yard! I hit the local pick-a-parts, got hood hinges, rear door sill plates, rear door arm rests. I seen 4th gen f-bodies, with the "LS" disc brakes, front and rear. The cars were laying in a foot of water.

My 79 Malibu Wagon had the posts rotting out like that, they were bad though.

My Buick had them shitty glue on moldings, I have the aluminum trim from the Malibu, I just don't have the rivets to hold the clips in. I am a bit hesitant to screw the clips in.

Nice progress though!
