Been debating adding the vinyl woodgrain trim around the car once it's painted. Should I do it?

Sorry Jack, I didn't have time to search through the B-bodies for you...

Sounds like you scored some nice goodies, Blake. It's like a treasure hunt out there. Some times you find some good sh*t, other days it's zippity- do- da.

Thanks anyway. You had enough to keep you busy.

Rohners is cleaning up junk!?! They have some decent stuff there but that area was so hard to access and almost dangerous sometimes. Sad to know that some of those cars arent around but its probably for the best. I think I took the last useable 2dr door out there.

Ive never understood why the pontiac section is on the other side of the yard from the oldsmobiles, haha.

I know! I was shocked!

I know what cars they dragged outta there and realistically, they were the ones that didn't have anything left to give.
The key will be that they hang on to the good ones...
I assume I'll be out there again before too long so I guess we'll see what it looks like.
Hopefully it'll be a little easier to get around, the whole section was/is getting really over grown...

Is this the yard that has(had)the large section of Oldsmobiles that you posted a while back?

Theres a lot of good stuff there but its impossible to get to. What I dont understand is the pickups are in great organization. The IH pickups/scouts are lined up perfect. The 80's FWD GM car section is good, mustang section is good. Just all the stuff thats worth money and could be easily sold is impossible to access.

I went out there 2 years ago to get a 2 barrel manifold for dads IH 345. Asked the guy where it was and he said "In the bus with the intake manifolds right over the wheel well". Went into the bus and the thing was PACKED with manifolds. 1000+. Found 2 spreadbore manifolds but no 2 barrel. Went back and said I couldnt find them. He asked if I looked outside the bus. I looked at him goofy and said no. He walked out there next to the wheel well on the outside and kicked some leaves and low and behold there was 4-5 IH 2 barrel intakes.

Everything out there is inventoried, just none of it on paper. Haha..

This is a good example of the place. 69 Camaro, rusted out and not complete at all but its still a 69 camaro, its worth something. BUT, its on a stack 25 feet from the track, cant get anything off it. Cool stuff, cant get to it.

Couldn't have asked for a nicer day, though it's a bit tight back there these days lol...

Here's the bezels I found... again, not perfect, but they're a million times better than what I had.
I just washed the dirt off of them, but with a little elbow grease I think there's still some more shine left in them.
Unless I find some nicer ones...

These are the radiator fillers I got.
The pair on my 442 just cover the sides of the radiator opening, but these wrap across the top as well, covering the unsightly gap between the top of the core support and the open area between the header panel.
These are pretty grungy, but once I get my hands on some material I can use them for patterns. Anyone know where to get this stuff?

And these are the front and rear fillers I snagged.
The fronts are just about perfect, now I just need a pair of the bumper mounted fillers...
The rears are a little grungy, but they're not cracked or warped.
I think I may use these for my "someday" project of popping a mold off of a set and reproducing them in fiberglass.
That or I'll sell 'em... I've got two extra pairs to work with so we'll see how motivated/distracted I get...

I just got done digging the 442 out from under all the wagon parts that accumulated over the winter.
I just need to find a spot for the big interior 1/4 panel pieces.
Back in the corner the dash is hanging from the ceiling as well as my aluminum core support. Next to that hanging from the ceiling is the upper half to the rear seat.
In the foreground is the aluminum hood for the 442, which is doubling as a shelf for the wagons headliner... It's getting tight!

Wasn't able to get out and work on the car yesterday, and unfortunately might not be able to get out tomorrow either, but I'll make up some time this weekend.
The roof still needs plenty more work, but it's getting closer and closer... I can't wait to be done with it and move onto the rest of the body!

I actually do have those bezels, but they are for a sedan. But I think the inner parking lights are the same, I have to compare. I also have to roll out a tape for you, I didn't forget, just got busy! :?

Glad you scored that stuff, seems to be a PITA to find. Kevin (OD showtime) hooked me up with the front bumper fillers. 😀

Jim, as long as your bezels are from a Salon it doesn't matter if it's a 2-door or sedan... All Salon and wagon bezels are the same for '78-'79.
It's the Supreme/Calais coupe that are different.
I'm pretty sure the parking/signal lites are all the same.
I'll have to put a bug in Kevin's ear to keep an eye out for me... 8)

Got some more sanding done Thursday, laid down some more filler Saturday and sanded it off.
With the exception of 4 little spots that I'll hit tomorrow, I think it's finally ready for primer...
If it feels nice tomorrow I'll start masking it off.
I'm sure it'll still need more work, but it'll be a lot easier for me to see once it's all one color...
