'83 Cutlass Cruiser Build Thread

Been debating adding the vinyl woodgrain trim around the car once it's painted. Should I do it?

It gives you a sneak preview of what the whole car is going to look like.

Actually it's a piece of masking paper taped to the door so I could check my spray pattern...
Got a few more pictures. It's a tough color to photograph.
It looks different in every shot lol

The first picture is the best take of what the color really looks like...

Tomorrow I'll mask it back up so that I can spray the roof, tailgate and jamb.

I still like it. It's going to look cool.

Just a quick question, how do you comfortably paint the roof? I know I had a hard time achieving a good height to paint, plus you're trying to cover the length of the roof. I cut apart a few wooden pallets to walk on, but it's annoying having to move them constantly to be able to spray the lower panels. It's definitely easier painting the roof on a coupe or sedan. Then you could use a step stool.

Thanks guys!

Jack, I'm lucky that I'm tall enough and the wagon is low enough that I don't have much trouble.
I thought about pulling the donuts off and setting the car down on some blocks of wood to get it even lower, but we'll see how motivated I am when I get out to the shop lol

Well it turned out to be a long day, but I got the roof, tailgate and jamb painted today.
Couple dry spots and one little run, but nothing that can't be taken care of later.
All in all I'm happy with how it looks! :wax:
