'83 Cutlass Cruiser Build Thread

Been debating adding the vinyl woodgrain trim around the car once it's painted. Should I do it?

Snapped a quick picture after I cleaned the blue crap off the tires today... I'll probably run out to my buddies place to put them on tomorrow and take some more pics...

The 235/60 and 255/60 tires are like nite and day from the tiny 195/70 and 235/60 that were on there before...

Got the new wheels and tires on and took some pictures. I think the rear wheels would've benefitted from another 1/4 or maybe even 1/2 inch of backspacing, as the wheel well lip is kinda close, but I think it'll be ok. Nothing a little massaging can't fix. Whatever, they were free. Fronts are perfect though.

Looks perfect as is!

Yup! Mothers is one of those tips you don't soon forget once you have tried it. I forget where I learned about it, but it's one of those things you tend to get from other gearheads.

As for the slot mags, they are one of those things that look good on only a select type of car. A friend and I have been talking about them for a while now as a period type of thing that is cheap to buy (usually), but makes the car if you have the right sense of taste. Getting on my soapbox here... I for one don't like the Hot Rodding establishment today as the emphasis seems to be more on spending money and perfection than having fun with cars. That's why it seems everyone needs blingtastic giant wheels, etc. Happily for those of us who aren't slaves to fashion, sometimes what is cheap and functional is just as good. It may not get magazine covers, but it is infinitely more fun for those of us who build our own cars instead of paying a shop to do it for us. [/soapbox]

that wagon looks awesome just like that...

although... re-tint it.. loose the hitch.. some bad *ss duals sticking out the back...

Thanks for the complements, guys! 😀

The trailer hitch was on the car when I got it, and it will be staying on there both for frame bracing, and if I ever need to tow the small boat I'll be getting soon.

The tint will have to come off, because it is far darker than what is allowed up here in MN. Texas(where the car came from) must have different limits.

Exhaust system came off my Malibu wagon, and will be poking out behind each tire with a pair of Flowmaster 40's.

car looks great! those wheels shined up amazingly as well, good work

Blake,
The car looks sharp with the slotted wheels. My first thought would have been that the slots were kind of dated. But polished up. they look cool...almost period correct.

As far as the wood grain treatment. I like it either way. Maybe go for a nice two tone?
