Any new pics and upgrades?

Hey Jack, nothing too exciting to report...
Aside from peeling the cover off it a few times to stare at it, I honestly haven't touched it since I backed it into the garage November 5!
I spent so much ****in time on this thing over the past 3 years that finishing it couldn't have come soon enough... I needed a break! lol
I did finally score an NOS header panel emblem, though it wasn't the exact style that I wanted...
There were a few different styles available, and my choice was proving to be very difficult to find.
In 1978 only, the header panel emblem was the Olds rocket logo.
Starting in 1979, they switched to using the model name. I wanted the rocket!
Well my rocket emblem that came with my junkyard header panel looked like trash, and I don't think I would've been able to save it...
Last week I happened to find an NOS 'Cutlass' emblem on ebay. I held off...
Fast forward a few days and the same seller posted a pair of NOS 'Cutlass Cruisier' emblems and I pounced!
I'll still be keeping my eyes peeled for the '78 rocket emblem, but this will certainly tide me over as plan B...
Once I get my taxes taken care of, I'll drop my front bumper pieces off to be re-chromed.

That's certainly a cool score, man.
I could fully understand how you feel after ODing on working on it for 3 yrs. You absolutely need a break from it. You do kinda get sick of looking at it, but you know it's got to get done, or else. The nice part is that you're now able to admire your work when you lift the cover off of it.

Jack, I was excited to find it, though I'm still holding out hope that I can get the rocket style emblem...
The break has been a long time coming. Working 3rd shift is tough, and combined with the car I was just wearing myself out.
I'm also saving 250 miles a week of driving out to the shop 40 miles each way...
Aside from cars, my other big hobby is 1/18 scale diecast cars, which had unfortunately been tucked away in storage for 6 years.
Right before I got called back to work in June, I was getting really bored around the house and went and got my model cars.
Well I relapsed big time, and before I knew it I was a ghost around here, spending all my computer time scouring ebay for deals lol!
That's why it took me so long to research the woodgrain stuff. Every time I sat down on the computer I ended up looking at model cars haha!
I've got a pretty ambitious model project that I've been slowly working on... I'll share some pics once it's presentable.

As for the wagon, there's still a to-do list...
Thankfully much shorter than before, but once it starts warming up I'll start getting everything ready for cruising season!

We all need other hobbies to tide us over. I'm also a diecast car freak. Hot Wheels, Matchbox, etc, etc. ...even a bunch of Tonka trucks and such. I still have a closet full of unbuilt model kits.
So, as you see, we're all big kids at heart. I even picked up a minibike project over the summer. It was a basket case that I picked up from a neighbor who was moving out. I always liked go-karts and minibikes. I guess I like anything that was motorized. I did get it together and put a new engine on it, plus a whole slew of new parts. I dig riding it. My wife thinks I lost my mind. She's getting over it.

It must feel good not having to haul that distance to be able to work on the car.. but on the plus side, it had been sheltered from the elements.

I am so glad the woodgrain won over plain. Hell of a job you done Blake. I may be interested in those templets but will need to be working on my Salon first. Lol

That looks great.
It's a good feeling adding jewelry to a newly painted car. I guess it's been too cold to get more done on the car. I'm sure we'll be seeing more updates soon enough...😉
