I drilled out some spotwelds and sawzall'd a good chunk of the rotting t top panel this afternoon.

I tried to be conservative, not go too far, so I can assess and cut as needed

The decision I have to make is, should I remove and replace the entire area covered by the repair panel?

The benefit of "cutting it in" would be keeping the trim clip retaining studs along the top of the windshield.

The benefit of removing the whole panel is much less cutting and fitting. Less welding, better contours and less body smoothing.

What say you?

I'll add pics soon.

I decided to remove the whole panel. It will be the easiest install, and reduces the odds of a poor result.

I will have to borrow a trim clip stud welder from someone or come up with an alternative.

I had some time yesterday so I removed the rest of the panel, cleaned up the area, and put some POR15 on it. (I also did the A pillar windshield channel for good measure)

I am planning to use 3M panel adhesive to install the new metal, and a few small welds

Talking to boss about his Monte SS and mentioned Ken's car which is very nice but what was found under the T tops. He is replacing his seals and found no rust, told him how lucky he was. I hope Chad joins this forum, his Monte is very nice, he had it at work. I too hate body work because this usually the end result but it could have been worse.

I had to do a burnout yesterday, because 'MURICA

the engine wont spin the tires through a brake stand, but ripped them right off once I eased out of the brakes.

The posi unit is still grabbing, but the right tire spun longer than the left, which leads me to believe it needs a little preload tightening up.

Also, I added a NOS fuel pump to carb steel fuel line. Got rid of the rubber fire hazard that was in there temporarily.
