Looks good so far. Can I ask about the manual disk brake setup? I did do some research on it but now you are using different disk brakes in the front
how do you know what m/c to use?
will you stay with drums in the rear or disk?
did you buy the kit or make it up? I know I can make the plate but I would need the numbers to make the push rod setup.

Are you doing the cage your self? And are you tying it to the car frame?
will you be boxing the frame since you are drag racing it?

Por15 is easy to use and I like it. Just follow the instructions and it will be fine. I would like to note that any frame mods you do make sure you wait the coat the chassis. And I have soaked a few rags with a heavy cord thru the center of them and pulled it thru a few times to coat it the best I could.
I got my manual brake setup from Malibu Dave. He recommended the 3/4" MC and said I should get lockup even with the larger front calipers and with discs on the back. He said if they don't work he will send me a different one at no charge.
The cage will be welded to the frame. I will most likely get some help but it will be done here. I might box the frame in too. Still have to research that.
As far as brakes, I am leaning towards a street/strip bolt-in 8.8 from JD Race and Restoration that comes with a disc setup. I don't know much about the brakes but they have a GM bolt pattern.
Thanks for checking out my thread.

I have thought about the manual brakes for my cutty and I have read up on what I could find and after reading what was written I was even more unsure then before I read about the swap. It seemed at the end of the thread he thought he had it figured out but the differences in calipers and the types of different m/c made it a hit or miss thing. But if you spent a ton of cash you could buy the Wildwood setup that guys said worked. I am not speaking bad about the guy or the kit but I need to be sure when it comes to my brakes. Plus the thread was for stock not c5 brakes which was why I was asking because I am going with the blazer/c5 route. Was just hoping it was more of a sure thing.

The roll bar 10 point I am doing will also be a frame mount but I will 1st do it as a body mount then frame after I box and complete my roller to slide under my driver once done. I seen the kit online for boxing the frame but in all honesty I can buy a sheet of 4x8 of the same thickness and plasma cut my parts after making them outta of cardboard so I will do that because I can and I have the cutter and I feel its a great way to teach my son how to cut and weld. I am trying to teach him as we go along.

I will keep following your build and look forward to whats next!

Sounds like a great project! I don't know if I am really going to be putting enough power down that I would need a boxed frame. I think that the cage should be stiff enough for the about 600hp I'm going to run. I guess I'll find out.
You a probably better off with power brakes doing the C5s. I would email Malibu Dave at manualbrakes.com and talk to him about what you want to do. He helped me out alot.

I think I wanna box the frame more so because I can , I have the tools and I feel stiffing the chassis is important for the pro tour I want and my roll cage is more of a safty net to keep us safe just incase Something happens. I feel the brakes are mandatory for such a increase in power. So any more work done?

I can respect that. Your build sounds awesome. I would love to do a pro touring build some day. My budget is small so I have to get creative and do my homework. Keeping the car light is a priority of mine also.
I was was putting the hardware back in the passenger door the other night, nothing too exciting. I don't get much time because of work and having a girlfriend that wants a bunch of things done to the house. Saving up for parts too. I have a bunch of things in boxes, just not to the point where they can go on. Might buy a used MIG welder off of someone at work and learn to weld. I'll have to see how that goes.
Thanks for the interest in my project. Wish i could go faster and get more done on this thing but I'm just doing what I can.

Getting some bodywork done. Someone posted a cutlass cowl hood for $150 obo on craigslist, but didn't leave any information, and they don't respond to those anonymous emails so I don't know what is up with it. Something I would have liked to get my hands on.

No luck on the seats. The guy said he was going to be out of town all weekend. Text him today about looking at them and he said he already sold them. I will just have to keep my eyes open in the future for a deal.
