Picked up a pretty clean 85 Elky for my 16 yer old sons first car back in the fall. 350/200C combo with 111k on the clock. So far we have replaced the headlights, headlight switch, dimmer switch, blower motor, steering shaft, speedometer cable, cruise control/blinker stalk. Just ordered all the F41 suspension pieces for it and after that is an engine bay cleanup with a new intake, carb, air cleaner, valve covers, headers and the removal of all the smog crap. He likes it a lot and has put about 5k miles on it driving it back and forth to school. Here's a couple of pics. We enjoy the site and what everyone is doing with their rides. We welcome my upgrade or modification suggestions or ideas.

I'm going on 19 myself and also just picked up an 85 elco, not quite as clean as yours, also my daily driver, and mines only the 4.3L....for now 8) but the modifications are to come after i finish my 87 cutlass build which was my first car at 16. best of luck to ya, looking forward to fallowing the build :bump:

Totally agree on the wheel and tire combo. I've got my eye on this set of 17x8's with tires for $1,049 on ebay.

Don't want radically big wheels on it, just want to modernize the look from a size standpoint but with a muscle car look and enough room for brake upgrades.

Nice clean looking Elky! Any normal 16 yr old would love a car like that...if he's not into the Saki burners.
It will look great with a cool set of wheels.

Thanks tc1959, any chance you could post a pic of yours with the 17x8's so I can get an idea of what it will look like?
