wow that looks great! what is the paint that you are using on your undercarriage? and what is the process? any prep work to those pieces?

The frame I just grind and wire brush down to bare metal, followed by multiple coats of 3M undercoating, which is tough stuff, yet east to touch up if it get nicked. The other parts were all just sandblasted and then primed and brush painted with Rust Oleum. Nice and thick, flows out nice, just takes forever to dry.

Great job! Can't wait to see the buildup on your 350. Did you get the rear sway bar with the 8.5 and do you have the thicker front sway bar? Also never seen the Olds wheels in 15x6 before whats the scoop on that?

Rear bar is from a 442, but didn't come with the rear end. The front is the small stock one, I may upgrade, not sure yet. I ordered the 6" front wheels from Wheel Vintiques (actually ordered thru Summit). I was impressed with the finished product enough to order two new 7" for the rears too. The rear wheels on it now are original 442 wheels that looked nice until I put the shiny new front ones on. I'm throwing one in the trunk for a spare and selling the other one. I can live with the 1/4" difference in backspace in the rear between the original wheels and the new ones.

Super nice car you have there! like everything you've done to it so far. and I like how you kept everything original on the outside and that your keeping it all Olds, is it a brougham? how did you come across it?

man you do some nice work, car looks real good..i like the tire sizes want something similar on my cutlass,

Wow! Lookin good! I love the subtle, factory look. I'll be following along as I pick up my new car in TWO DAYS! I'm dying to see if I bought "well". Its a beige colored '84 cutlass with 47K on the clock and hasnt been registered since '92. Stock everything. Back seat hasnt been sat it, trunk looks the same. Itty bitty 6 popper but I couldnt pass up such a cherry car.

Anyways, I'd like a 2 inch drop like yours will be getting and the 8.5 as well. Are drop spindles the best way to go as opposed to the simple spring change? Does this mean you'll have most of your suspension working correctly as opposed to the spring guys LOSING 2" of travel? I dont want a car I dont like driving. Here in new england the roads have defects, but we do have roads set up like roller coasters so you take the good with the bad. What spindles are you going to use along with springs?

I'd love to do a hood like yours too, along with some color matched sport mirrors. I may have to find used items to actually have resprayed and hand onto the stock hood. Thanks for all the pics and tips and continued success! I'm learning alot! What are your plans for motivation? Stock?

Thanks, yeah it's a Brogham. I actually bought the car from my uncle's estate. It was bone stock, but had been repainted around 1995, and then sat in a barn more or less since. The car hadn't gone 700 miles since 2001, the last oil change record I found in the ashtray.

Thanks. I used 2" drop Belltech spindles with stock springs. The roads in WI suck as well, so I kept the drop reasonable. I've got a 77 Lincoln Mark V that I lowered with just springs, and it rides and handles well too, but it is a huge car compared to the Cutlass. Just came down to parts availability on the Cutlass more than anything. The rear has Moog 5413 springs in it, which dropped it about 1 1/4" in the back. The rest of the rake is tire size.

A couple little details I did. Had a Buick rally cap laying around, made nice hold dowm washer for my spare.

And painting my back up lights a nice bright silver with body color stripe turned out nice. And cheap!

Took the car home yesterday for the winter. I'm planning on getting my 350 to my shop for tear down and build sometime after X mas. Stay tuned.
