I got my hands on a GN rear end out of 87 and put it in my 80 Elcamino. I recently put a 385 stroker with *** horse power and now I'm thinking some new axles to hold this thing together. What I'm not sure of is the spline count. Is it 28 or 30 on the 10 bolt 8.5"?

If you are running slicks and a big stall or spray its probably a good idea. I wasted one of the stock axels in my GN when it was stock with just a chip & the fuel turned up and ran 12.7s at 107. I bought some Mosers and stayed with the 28 spline because I already had a posi and did not want to buy another. Never had a problem since. Then again I have seen them hold up to a lot faster and its not like you mess anything up at least normally if one goes bad and just replace it then. Torque and traction gets them not HP so depending on how you are laying it down makes a difference.

Thanks Guys,
Got it, 28 spline. The stroker puts out some serious HP and I do have MT drag radials. I will definitely look into some Moser axles soon.

Take care
