The reason why I know it is a WC is if you look at the casing around that torx bolt I have circled you will see why they use that bolt and not the hex bolt they use on a NWC. The hex bolt cannot not fit on a WC casing. That is why I posted the two pictures so you can see the difference.

I thought that too but if I think it's 1352-185 which is a 87 V8 F body.
I hope you're right. The 1352-185 is geared much friendlier...
2.95 1st x 3.73 rear = 11.0 final drive in first gear. A little steep. I like to be closer to 9.0-9.5. Still manageable.

0.72 overdrive, 3.73 rear with 26" tall tires turns 2776 RPM at 80. Better.

A 3.42 rear with a 0.72 overdrive and 26" tires would turn 2546 RPM at 80. Good.

3.42 rear x 2.95 1st = 10.1. Not bad.

Just food for thought.

The chart on this page also identifies it as an 89 S10 transmission.

I wonder if it is a mish mash of parts or if this is an identification problem?
I wonder what the ratios in it really are? If it has that 4.03:1 1st gear, you might want a much higher rear end ratio, like 2.73 or 3.08.

4.03 1st x 3.73 rear = 15.03 final drive ratio in 1st. Insanely low. Granny gear.

4.03 x 2.73 =11.0 Still pretty steep but better.

2.37 2nd gear x 3.73 rear = 8.8.

You might just take off in 2nd, if the trans is geared the same as shown by those charts.

Assuming a 26" tire, a 0.76 overdrive gear and a 3.73 rear, you should turn 2931 RPM at 80. Not too bad.

Hopefully it's actually geared like a F body box.

If you look at the first 5 the second 5 is shaped the same, and they did not use a WC in an S10

I think the transmission is in the car which is too bad, I always put some oil in the transmission and turn it on it's side and leave it like that overnight so the bearings for the input/output shaft can get lubricated before the engine starts spinning that shaft

I think fluid has messed up that tag. The tag starts with a W and what looks like a G but WG make no sense, it must be WC

That must be a rebuild tag? What about the metal tag on the back of the main case where the tail housing bolts on? If it has the electronic speedo it is a newer t5. My 88 t5 out of an f car had the mechanical. Definitely get that oil out of there and get the right fluid in it. Might want to change it drive a few miles, change it again, and repeat. May need to flush it a few times.

Thanks for the info. Here is a pic of the tag. I hope it is a WC. But i dont think so. Any help is appreciated. Its full of straight 50w oil so id have to change that ic it is a WC.

I appreciate any help, im a rookie!
You definitely have a WC T5. All the info Pontiacgp gave you is correct. Like I stated get that oil out of there. The synchros are designed for Dexron 3 fluid.

Hmm, i was told its a non world class out of an 87 camaro. I thought i verified this by looking at the "freeze plug" by the input shaft and running the numbers

I am thrilled its a WC but am hesitant to believe so

I will double check the numbers.

Yes i will drain and flush afew times, its easy to do.

Thanks for the help.
