Yup it comes along, others are allowed to speak of it, I'm just not. I'm not in the cool club apparently. Menace to the clique society....
show me on the doll where the rules hurt you. ffs. this ends now. Carry on with the thread, but leave the us-vs-them political BS out of a thread that doesn't need it, and off this site. it isn't wanted.

By no means will I make this political because I think they are all crooks, but to be fair its hard to fly an American flag when we have such trash running it. But we should absolutely find a way to support the hard working men and women who do the heroic stuff
I fly it for what it meant, and what it can mean again. Consider it to be an 'in spite of xyz' gesture. I won't get into what I disagree with about the current direction some want to take things in, but, the ones I disagree with most are the ones who argue you shouldn't fly it because of its very past, if that gives you an idea.

It's a personal decision, but, I had a lot of family that "lived" if you want to call it that under the Marxist paradise until it fell apart 30 years ago. But again, there was the same mentality then and there as is being pushed now.

So if people 'are offended' or 'feel physical pain' at seeing the flag flying? Good. It means a lot more than what they're trying to twist it into, such as the memories of those we speak of in this thread, and, what their sacrifices meand and stood for.

I fly my Flag because of how I feel and with the pure thought of those who aren't here anymore to do the same. That's people I was overseas with, people before me, people who will be after me, and as we all can read the same people who this thread is referencing, as well as every other loss of life incident out there no matter the scale.

I'm still here to do it so my Flag flies per US Flag Code. Those who are offended by such, it's not recommended to come in my yard and try to change that.

I posted those before and after pics in the 'Random Images' thread. I refrained from showing the horror of that day, because, well, it's a sore spot here in Shitty City. We don't need to be reminded as we still live with it every day. The rubble may be gone but the pain remains. lt's a lot like when you see a bunch of flowers and a little memorial by some telephone pole where someone lost their life at in a car. People driving by know something terrible happened here, but the family can't bear to see that place anymore. We have the park with the waterfalls now and that is a good thing. We would never build over it as if it was never there. As mentioned, if you were not alive or aware at that moment, you need to be taught about it. Never forget means just that. NEVER forget.......................................................................................................................................

I remember 9/11 like it happened yesterday. Im on Long Island. I worked at a DOE site. We all saw the damage after the first plane hit on the TV in the break room. Then the second plane. Its something that everyone there will never forget.
Most people I know either have a personal connection or know someone that has. My division heads assistant lost her husband. Derrick Washington worked on the top floor as a tech for Verizon. Another woman on our site lost her son who was in FDNY. My kids babysitters husband was there. He saw fellow firefighters killed by the jumpers. When the buildings started to collapse he literally ran for his life. John survived. I'll never forget some of the things he told me when I would pick up my kids. I think he was just trying to unload. Im pretty sure he went to EVERY firefighters funeral over the next months. It was a very sad time.
My whole department got called to one of the larger buildings. One of the big shots told us the site was closing and we were all let out. Going out the gate the county PD and our own security group had the gates blocked with trucks. Armed with HK MP5s. Like I said, something everyone will always remember.
Hopefully our country will never see anything like that again but in these troubled times you never know. I just hope in my heart people will pass the story of 9/11 on to their future generations. Pearl Harbor was always important in my house because my father fought in WWll.

Something most don't know about is the 'Survivor Tree'. It is the only tree on the site to have survived the rain of debris. It was taken up to the Bronx, and nursed back to health. And just like a typical tough-azzed New Yorker, it came back. When they designed the memorial it included a lot of trees, and the focal point is the "Survivor tree'. They made a documentary film about the memorial trees that is hard to find for free. PBS usually shows it, and some PPV sites. Here is a short clip. https://viewing.nyc/the-trees-a-fil...-of-the-9-11-survivor-tree-and-its-offspring/ But you should really try and find the whole film. It is very heart-warming and symbolic of the memorial's theme that 'Life Goes On'. You wouldn't think so, but we do love our trees here................................................................................................................................................................
