I've heard of plenty of people taking their LT1's apart at 150K or so to do build ups, and the cylinder walls still had the original cross-hatch on them.
They're fantastic motors in terms of longevity. Early year opti-sparks have a tendancy to accumulate moisture which is what kills them. By '95 they had added a vent/weep hole to prevent this. Mine has gotten soaked in coolant when my water pump failed and has had no problems.
In fact, when GM announced the discontinuation of the Caprice and the rest of the B-body platform, hundreds of police departments sent their LT1 Caprices back to the factory to be rebuilt rather than buy new Crown Victorias.
