The rotary vacuum controllers all fail the same way: the plastic snap rivet that holds the two haves together breaks one or both tabs:

An 1/2 inch long 8-32 screw and nylock nut can replace the rivet.

thank you so much for the tip. Im going to try that. Nice drawing of the 2+2 a movie with Dave Bautista in it (house of the rising sun) where he drives a 2+2.

Let me know if the screw fix does it. Mine has failed the same way but just haven’t gotten to open it up and look. I assumed the vacuum switch in the dash is bad.

It's a common problem with G-body cars.
