maybe this is an omen telling you it's time for a stick conversion....
Ha yea right! In all honesty if this happenedjust before winter I would consider the T56 swap because I could use the winter to save up and look for deals. Right now all I wanna do is just enjoy this damn thing.

I appreciate the kind words/well wishes but im just so exhausted on this. Figures the only part of the entire driveline that I didn't rebuild is the one that fails me.

I feel your pain man. Take a break from it. I can't tell you how many times i wanted to sell or scrap my Regal. Glad I didn't. :wax:

Can't agree with 565 more - If you have a good converter send it out and they can open it up and check it out and even re-stall it if you want, I use FTI they are reasonable and fast. I hope your FRIEND stands behind his work and gets you going - might be a blessing you found it before destroying it. Leave it alone a couple of days and come back at it fresh.

After going through my old phone there's no way for me to get in contact with the builder. I don't know him personally I actually found him on craigslist while looking for a TH400 to replace the one I originally had. It's kinda ironic because I sent my original trans off and decided to go a different route when they told me it would be $1500 for a rebuild. That seemed crazy high for me. Now im back to where I was.

With the converter im just going to send it back. I have only had it 2 months and it didn't feel right from the get go. I will step up to a 3500 stall, hopefully it acts more like a 3k than this supposed 3k does. Right now im waiting for the call from the trans shop to see what the damage is. Im hoping that since I barely have run time on it it's not too ****ed. Another thing is the fluid still looked awesome! It was still red/pink and smelled almost new.

Too bad I didn't live closer, I'd give you a hand and bring my own beer. It's always easier with someone helping out

Yea it's really nice when someone brings you beer!!!

Quite honestly the t- 350 & 400 are real easy to work on and I would have suggested doing it yourself. I know it's probably out of your comfort zone as it was for me but a book by Ron Sessions (How to build and modify t-400 and the 350) is great. I've build 7 of them - 2 w/ trans brakes and they are going strong

I have built one but would feel much better going to a reputable builder with a warranty.

I just got a call from the shop. The previous builder didn't assemble the pressure regulator correctly which resulted in way too high of pressures. I guess that explains why the shifts got softer and softer and the constant puking out of the vent. He said the lugs are completely blown out of the housing and my valve body gasket was ripped on install. The converter should be fine because the fluid in the trans looks great except along the bottom, on the drain plug and in the filter.

It will be around $950 for the repairs and that includes the new housing.

You probably have a 69 or older case that GM didn't use a spacer ring between the center support and the case and caused the lug problem. There is a lot of mods that can be done and I hope your builder is incorporating some. I would call your build and see if he is going to use a 34 element intermediate roller/sprag clutch - big upgrade.(I'm assuming it's a 400)
