So, i needed spacers for the rear of my 81 El Camino to make a pair of wheels clear the frame. I ordered a set off amazon which are 1" and showed compatible with my vehicle. They say they have a hub bore or 70.3mm which is what my do camino should be. Trying to get them on and flush was a b*tch! I ended using a dremel to get someof the old rust from around the center bore which helped but ultimately, brute force and impact wrench had to do the rest. In the course of that, the spacers seemed to have "discolored' a bit. Can anyone familiar with adapters tell me if i damaged them ultimately weakened them forcing them on. The car isn't driven often or fast, but I don't want to be cruising on my way to work and the wheels fall off. See the areas that aren't the same smooth looking silver finish as the rest of the adapter.

Thanks

I don't think you damaged the integrity of the spacers but what material are the spacers made of? I would change the lugs to a good quality like ARP since your wheels are lugcentric now instead of hubcentric. Also you'll need the check the torque on the nuts holding the spacer on after around 100 miles.

In case you are interested the A body 64 to 67 has a rear end that is 2.5" wider than a G body so you could get rid of the spacers with the A body rear.

The lug nuts i have for the wheel to adapter are gorilla. Do you mean change the actual lug studs? There's another adapter for a 70.5mm hub. I thought about getting those too.

i would think they should have a hub ring on them. You just went from hub centric to lug centric...

Some did some didn't, it depended on manufacturer. Torqued correctly, should be fine either way, no?

first line "Our spacers are built to last"
last line "These wheel spacers come with no warranty"

I'd be concerned about those lines on the spacer. Might be fracture lines. Notice how they seem to line up with the holes and studs in the spacer. Sounds like you torqued them down hard against an uneven, rusty surface. If you don't replace the spacers, keep a close watch on those fracture (?) lines.

That's exactly what I was thinking/wondering when I saw the lines. I was also considering just ordering a new pair and you just confirmed that i probably should. Should i get the adapters that have the slightly bigger bore opening at 70.5mm vs 70.3mm?

I thought those lines were just a blemish in the finishing of the material. It's 6161 which is relatively soft so I don't think it would have stress fractures. I would like them better if they were T6 material. What's the brand name of the spacers.
