whats the BEST product you've ever used on rust to kill it or neutralize it? im going to start my bodywork soon and i wanna use something that people have had GREAT results from. although i'll be trying to remove as much rust as possible, i still want something to use on the pitted areas an such.

I'm using Rust Check rust converter non-aerosol right now, Jury is out because I have no long term results to report yet, but it definately turns the rust to a black apparently non corroding, paintable surface.
Purists will tell you there is no substitution for actually cutting out and replacing rusted areas, but for my wallet, I'm willing to try these converting alternatives.

I'm using Rust Check rust converter non-aerosol right now," i used the spray can type grey stuff on my rear inside fenders, that only had very minimal surface rust, and then a GOOD coat of black spray paint and after a couple months its all starting to flake off now so im wondering if i should just get a few cans of rock gaurd and go nuts in there altho i still dont want whatever rust that is still there continuing on its way through into the trunk. i also washed the hell out of it beforehand so it was super clean, guess i could have given it a sand but it was pretty clean to begin with, just looked dirty and shitty and i wanted to clean it up a lil. IMO rust check products blow!!

For body work, ive had 2 cars that had a very cheap paint job on them, and the bottom 3-4" all the way around had rock-guard paintable stuff on it. On the rocker panels for example, and they were in pristine condition. I stripped one car after owning it for 3 years to do a proper paint job on it, and it had zero rust.

For general storage like engine blocks, I use the Green Rust check.

I have had good luck with Zero Rust. For prep just remove the loose scale and degrease. Held up well on the floor pans of my other vehicles.
