with a multimeter gauge check for continuity between the body of the gauge and I spade, if there is none there check the G spade and I spade for continuity. You can use the OHM measurement and it should be open, if there is any resistance that is a short.
okay. i have my temp gauge out. i am not a multi meter guy lol. i put the meter on the oms (u) and put the black to the body and the red to the I and it reads 00.3 then put it on the ground stud on the meter and the I again same thing 00.3. i also did the same thing on the sender in the intake put it on the sender and the engine ground and it read 00.9. need to know if they are both good or both bad. also see online your not supposed to use teflon tape. true or false?

that reading is ok, the gauge is basically an ohm reader. The hotter the coolant in the engine gets the more ohms the sender puts out.

okay. so i need to replace the gauge and sensor ? another quick one. would the engine not being grounded to the frame also cuz them to short out. the engine is grounded to the body but not the frame.

the sender (sensor) looks to be ok, it should have an ohm reading, on the gauge when you have one probe on the body and one on the I there should not be a ohm reading. What brand is the gauge

thought i would share.
