I just got a new battery to get my car running again and find the drain , ended up it seamed to be the new alternator i put it in two years ago but its never got anyroad time ,and alt volt light was on in dash so i took the new one out put in the old one from the 4.3 that used to me in car and light went off butttttt when i turned off the car now the light is on with car keys out ? Wtf. Any sugestions or are both my alts damaged. I tryed to have the new on checked at autozone but they could do it cus it was suposto be rebuilt from the shop i got it from to put out either 120 or 160 amps cant rembember what i went with .ive read something about a jumper wire but not sure anyone ?

check to see if there is an alternator/stater rebuild shop in your area. If there is go talk to them and ask them to check out the alternators. You'll get a better product and better info from a local shop.

Update... I put the old alt back in from the 4.3 it works but i guess its not strong enought when i check thw battery when the cars running it only reads 11 but off it reads 12 brand new battery. Really sucks somethings wrong withthis alt cus it was one of the things i spent alittle extra on cus i thought i was getting a good product and apartently good trash if i had money i would but a powermaster but im not working right now ,going back to school for autobody paint at 36 keeps me to busy for a job so ill have to try to get this one repaired really itching to drive car. Thanks for the replys .
