I am currently restoring an 81 Cutlass Calais and I am putting a sbc 357 in it but I using the third generation pulleys and brackets and I need to know what alternator I can use. I got the pulleys and brackets out of and 92 Camaro Z28, can I use that alternator and use the si to ci adapter plug, if so how do I run the wires with the pigtail in the Cutlass right now. Thanks!! Can somebody give me a part no. or idea of a good alternator to use? (it's a budget build)

In your case, using the serpentine set-up, I would continue to use the stock CS130 alternator...or maybe even consider a CS144, which puts out 140 amps vs. 105 amps.
As for the SI to CS adapter, I used the AC Delco PT2145 connector with built in resisitor because I do not have a generator charge light in my dash.
You can also go to NAPA and get either connector EC80 without resistor, or EC82 with resistor depending on your configuration. You can do a search on the site and you will find all the pertinent information that you seek.

Welcome aboard!

If you plan to upgrade to a 140A alternator and use your existing bracket, you'll need a bracket adapter like this so you can literally drop a 140A alternator in place and bolt it up. I make these brackets using a Bystronic press brake and they are laser cut 11ga carbon steel. I etch prime them and include all new grade 8 hardware with every kit. If interested, PM me....I offer them for $79 ea.

The highest quality 140A alternator I've found is on Rockauto.com-look up 1996 Impala SS and checkout their price for a 100% new Delco/Remy one....last one I bought was $96 shipped with NO core! 5% discount code nearly covered all the shipping ($9 iirc).

Here's (2) rare 140A GM alternator brackets I have in stock as well as a standard bracket showing what it looks like with my 140A adapter bracket kit installed-either setup allows for an easy upgrade to a 140A alternator. I have quite a few GM serpentine bracket/pulley kits in stock and I stock a lot of the harder to find pulleys-such as the guided versions of the water pump, idlers and tensioners.

I also have 4ga charging system upgrade kits for such alternators also. I also stock all the correct braces and t-stat housings as well. If you have a serpentine need, I have it.
