Was that an open blade electric fan? Hopefully that new fan moves enough air. If not, you can probably fit 2 in there.
It's a 16 inch, 3200cfm I believe. I used the plastic zip tie type rods with locking nuts. This kit isn't exactly the same as what I used but similar.

I always use a small diameter fully threaded steel rod and rubber washers and then fender washers and locknuts on both ends, never had a fan move.

When I pull the engine for my LS swap I'll do that too. The kit I used came with the fan.
