Look for a car with as many of the big three as you can afford.
1. Great Body/Paint
2. Great interior
3. Great engine/transmission

I prefer paint and interior, I can swap an engine. And, I prefer nice interior over nice paint, it's where you spend most of the time with the car.

Any one of those big three can cost as much as a car alone. I seen that car on Craigslist, but, it's on the other end of the turnpike, no pics in the ad. That being said, I think it would be a good buy at $800 or less. We are in the same state, the tags would be $275 to get current as current and up to date is much different than a clean title.

You might try looking around on soctal media, as Craigslist is not a strong or busy as it used to be.

454s are not as sought after as they once were, no one likes to feed then anymore.

To start off with, find a clean car that needs a motor or transmission and you'll be much happier.

These days 454's are considered big small blocks.

For me I think that monte carlo is worth buying if you wanted a on going project or turning it into a drag car. now for a street car you would have alot of work to do and probably need a bigger budget around 3500 to 4000 to have it decent if you were able to hunt all the missing parts down and do all the work yourself.

Your talking about putting $3700 + into a car and one hell of a lot of work. For that kind of money you should be able to find yourself a pretty nice car. I would sell my project for less than that.

you may consider taking your total budget to find something a little more intact and drive able, where you can spend a future budget towards certain areas, instead of "have to do's". don't be in too much of a hurry and jump on the first thing that pops up, montes come up in this area from time to time in decent condition for around a grand, with only maintenance items needed...

couple decent examples for the higher end of your budget in/near my area
