Am I the only one who is tired of LS swaps?

Coming off oh what you said about hot rodding is and was never about modifying new and new ish cars it started really back in the 1930s-1950s where soldiers would take key word "old" cars and make them faster on the cheap. now the gbody you have to remember was cutting edge around the time it came out. now comparing the gbody to a new car is just kinda dumb in no way shape or form is it going to be able to do what a new z28 can. it is like comparing your young self to you now. any bet the more you aged the more you realized man i am out of date and cant keep up with the younger crowd like i used too. just my 0.2 cents
I agree with most of that. I don't know how cutting edge the G-bodies were in their day. Maybe the Buick turbo six with efi. The rest of it was like the last gasp of the old school intermediate. I think that is what makes them endearing to people on this site. Everyone else was going to front wheel drive, f-bodies and vettes had tuned port, mustangs and t-birds had efi and turbo fours and the more modern styling. They were downsized personal luxury and I think they had inoffensive styling, hell some looked really good stock, and a multitude of engines, transmissions, and rearends will fit.
 
They weren't cutting edge, the B bodies out handled then, the metric chassis sucks. As said, the regular cars are worth squat. Unfortunately, I have put a lot more than squat in mine. The biggest hurdle for me is the messily 7.5" rear, broke it twice. It is a big part of me putting off finishing the 403 stroker.

One great thing about G bodies is that you can do just about anything with these cars to make them what you want. The G body was unfortunately made when GM tried to get rid of as much weight and use a low HP engine and gearing to get better fuel mileage using 30 year old technology. Seeing how many G bodies have survived I think they did a great job on these cars even with their shortcomings

Look into a Ford 8.8 swap. They are inexpensive and pretty strong, with a lot of aftermarket support.

I run an A body 8.2 with an Eaton posi, Guys are running that rear end with 500 hp
 
There is a guy who does up 9" housings for G bodies for around $400. I wish my welder and skills were up to fabbing a 8.8". What does it take to fit the 8.2" rear in?
 
That would be similar to my work, not good enough.
