Motor runs great drive the car and as soon as it gets hot the car wont shift and it free revs and then bangs into gear at like 6k ...

don't know the history of the trans other than its a th350 that was in the car... tried to shift it manually and tried to let the adjustable modulator shift it... i did adjust the modulator but seems to be another issue than that

looking at the hughes and TCI th350 with reverse manual valve body and trans brake...

not sure what size converter i need but its a big cam that makes power after 3500 so i assume like a 4k converter i know the size of them effects how it works as well so i need to do some more research on this..

any info anyone wants to provide is more than welcome !

Go with like 3200 stall

what about th350 v th400 ? pros/cons? I just bough the jegs dual hump th350 crossmember will that work with the 400 ?

I know i need a new driveshaft too if i do a 400...

also hughes or TCI ?

Sounds like your trans has had it. Happened to me at the end of last year. I rebuilt my TH350 at home. It's working really well now. You could always rebuild it yourself. They're not that bad. It was much easier than I had feared.

It is said that properly built, a TH350 can handle 600 ft. lbs. so if you are happy with a 3 speed you should be ok with building your transmission/having it built/replacing it with a built TH350.

As far as torque converters, I run a 3200 stall Circle D in my 4L70. I'm very happy with it. They build their converters here in Houston. I have toured the factory. Great people. I am not familiar with what is popular for TH350 but Circle D offers a converter for TH350. It is a little high end though and may be stronger/more expensive than you need. I can tell you, the quality is there.....

its actually a TH350C so the internals are different and the shaft and stuff

That's too bad that you are getting sick of it. You've done a lot of nice work. The easiest thing to do would be to rebuild your trans or replace it with one like it since you already have the crossmember and you have the shifter set up, etc. If it were my car I would want overdrive but that's a whole new can of worms.

Oh, ok. You didn't mention the lockup in the first post. I know the input shaft is different and there is some sort of mechanism for the lockup. Not sure of other differences but I still bet it's not that hard to build.

If you want to buy a transmission already ready to go I would suggest a built 200-4R. Really close to the same gears 1st-3rd plus overdrive. I would love to have overdrive but I already had the TH350. I want a T56 someday. I very much prefer manual transmissions.

Good advice if you need a new converter. I also run Circle D and so far have been impressed. It was $900 but unlike the el cheapo loose converters that use modified OEM parts they are billet with custom internals and drive fairly normal if you keep your foot out of it.

In my opinion if you need a new transmission don't bother with a 3 speed.

Circle D does not appear to offer a lockup converter for TH350C. I did find this one on Summit but don't know anything about them...

I read from a quick search that a 350C can be built to live behind up to 500 ft. lbs. so sticking with your transmission is feasible. Not sure how much benefit you get from the lockup. It might be easier to just go with a regular TH350.
