Good pirce.... you pay for what you get

It's a nice car and the advertised price is retail..The actual sale price will obviously be a little lower. Personally, I wouldnt pay much over 9K but someone will bite eventually. The interior will need some work and that color is hard to find parts for - buyer beware.

This Cadillac dealer near me has been trying to sell a low mileage 85' 442 at $18,995 for well over a year (see the link below). The dealerships owner mothballed this one as an investment. I would love to own it for the right price. I called them to ask how they determined the price and they didn't have a clue other than that they needed a return on thier investment. Typical blood sucking idiot car salesman. The car is a very nice example of the 442 but in my opinion, their price is at least 6K too high.

i think prices like that are just stupid. 18,000 for a car that will just sit and not be used because thats exactly whats gunna happen to it. Put it up for 8 or 9k and let someone use it for what it was built for, to drive. can you imagine what the seals and that could be like for a car that is 25+ years old and has sat all of its life. Sorry Id buy a car like this in a heartbeat but for no more than 9g. And thats so i can get some enjoyment out of it. The way i see it is that a car like this, is a money pit. Once something goes wrong, it all goes one after another. Funny thing is, is that my 71 Monte carlo has 73,000 original miles and i didnt give anything more than 1500 for it, lol. And it's in really good shape for the year, Runs and drives too and everything works.

That one in Detroit looks just like my 88. With 60,000 less miles. And I didn't pay anywhere even close to 18! Are they crazy. That car was like 16 and change brand new.

Interior looks about like my 87. A bit more fading in mine, but the console looks the same. Looking at the SPI tag, mine has a few options this one doesn't have, the U46 external lamp monitor (fiber optic), and the G80 positraction, limited slip. Car does look good, though. I could see it going for 9-10 K. Can't wait to get mine back together...if I can get it looking half that good, I'll be happy 😀 .

I don't see the point in spending more than 10k on a gbody especially if its not an ero, gn, etc.
I could even find a rust gn in a back field n buy it for 2-3 g and put 3g into body and have an imaculate car and still save 3g I could use in the motor.

If you guys think those prices are high look at this, 200k on it, and needs a paint job but he still thinks it's worth 10g. I don't care how much he says he has in the motor, if you put a few grand into your motor you're gonna atleast make it look clean.

sadly these are the normal crazy prices for my area for elco's

That's a terrible idea. Going 200mph in a g-body El Camino.
My Regal's 2.56s can get it to 200 (with enough rockets strapped to it). I can see it now. All the joys of loose steering, poor handling, and low stopping power all at the blazing speed of 200mph. 😛

Rule of thumb should be 10 grand max for a g body, IMO. Maybe give or take 2k depending on condition.
