Haven't been on here much recently and the reason is that I bought a new house and have been busy doing house stuff. I've also been accumulating tools, bought a new Tig welder, mig welder, plasma cutter, etc...well all of that went up in smoke on Friday (3/27). Luckily my car is safe. I had just finished putting a 10 point cage and subframe connectors in my brothers 99 Camaro seen in the pics, now it's gone. Now I get to wait around and see how bad insurance is gonna dick me down.

Not only did I lose 90% of my tools, both brand new welders, the plasma, etc...but I lost a brand new NOS front bumper cover for my Monte Carlo I had just bought 3 weeks before it. This thread isn't me asking for a handout, I could just really use some help locating a decent front bumper cover so I can get my car on the road again. Without insurance money (that I'll be lucky to get) I can't swing another NOS or new aftermarket one just yet. Anyone around the 44811 area with a decent bumper cover laying around?

I should also add that the fire started above the insulated ceiling. The flue pipe coming from the wood burner evidently came apart or leaked enough to start a fire up there. I had just went inside the house to change into garage clothes. Was in for maybe 10 minutes. By time I got back outside the fire had dropped through the ceiling and was literally raining down on everything. By time fire department got it out 6 trusses were basically burned away and a few of the 4x6 posts are all but gone.

Insurance never said anything about the wood burner in the garage when they came out to inspect it all in September when I closed. The only contingency they put on it was a tree I had to trim that was touching the roof. But everywhere I read says state farm doesn't cover wood burners in the garage anymore. I'm currently waiting on a call back from the claims agent but I'm not holding my breath.

It’s a good thing the Camaro was on the ground. I’ve read a few times on forums where insurance companies didn’t pay for a vehicle that was on jack stands. Glad nobody was injured. Still SUCKS BIG TIME. Damn glad I went with overhead radiant tube heat when I built my garage 20 years ago.

Not sure what your local laws are in the town you live in,

But before the insurance company gets there I would remove the tank you have on the welding cart.

You are lucky that didnt blow.

I thought the same, plus I would get rid that picture. If it is 100% or 80/20 argon that is inert but why have to explain anything

When I was looking for my Choo Choo nose I ran across a company that sells fiberglass noses for the MC/SS Can’t remember who, but if interested you should be able to find them. The price was around $500.00

YIKES! That is terrible. At least you got out OK. I'll ask around for the bumper cover.
