Anyone ever have issues with Amazon Prime shipping?

Personally I will never buy Prime out of spite, everyone says I'm crazy but hate the games they play to make you almost have to buy it. They used to be great with shipping and I know they have a ton of volume but now they make regular orders sit for days and then are delivered next day from their warehouse once they finally decide to ship it.

My huge issue with them, is when I first bought my duplex I bought it off a buddy and told him that he could keep his two vehicles there until the weather broke since I do like to keep my garage kept but he had a super low mile intercooled turbo regal and a super low mile 2nd gen Ford Lightning that both ran 10's that had never seen the elements. So I had my cars stuck out in the elements, wasn't super worried about the GTO since it was a daily when I first got it but when I bought the second Monte that I have now it did not have any of the rubbers in it so any water would be bad. Hence I have to buy a car cover that keeps it out, get a very nice looking one and on the second use the drawstring breaks. Seems like not a huge deal the vendor using Amazon is very willing to replace it.
Then the fun part comes since it was one where you can lock it onto the car. I figured a good safety idea to keep it on there since it was guaranteed non scratch and can get a bit windy since I'm on top of a hill. Well once I have the new one in hand and go to switch them over I notice a few huge scratches in the paint so I immediately let Amazon know while I appreciate them sending me a replacement that there is a big issue with their guaranteed non scratch car cover. So the vendor immediately says they will refund me the money I paid, I said that would be great but the damage is more than likely going to cost thousands.
They have no answer so I have to escalate it to Amazon and play their game with people who do not use English as their routine language and have trouble understanding the problem. So I waste many phone calls trying to get a hold of someone, finally get someone who tells me to get a couple of estimates to see what it will truly cost. I tell them upfront that it is a plasti-dipped vehicle so my guess would be it would all need taken off and reapplied which is not something a lot of places do around here. They say give it a shot anyway, so I start on my journey of trying to find anyone to give me a quote go to a ton of shops who want nothing to do with it because of the plasti-dip which I can't blame them when they don't normally do or would want them to do since they don't. Finally after so many wasted trips I finally reach out to an out of state dip company and have them quote me, send it to Amazon who then says oh sorry there is nothing we can do it was a private seller.

And that there is why big business is a pile o crap and why I will never buy their Prime, now I totally understand it's not smart business for them to cover the private vendors mistakes but when they make the A to Z claim and all the other stuff they do to increase their business reach it is something they should be required to own up to. Now that I think back on it I should have gone to the better business bureau but also never really got anywhere with them when GM was giving me the business on the GTO.

Sorry end rant:soapbox:

I live sort of out in the boonies (not as much as some of you guys but still) and its worth it for me just in the time/gas money when I need something. Click and it shows up 2 days later, vs. me running all over this corner of the state looking or spending time calling around. Any real problems I've had have been with the post office or fedex, not amazon themselves.

I love it and haven't had any problems. I will shop around on every part because money is tight. Just last week I needed parts for the Mrs. ride and while the parts where cheaper at rock auto, when I did the math with their shipping charges, amazon won because is still $3 less than the shipping cost at rock auto and I would have in 2 days. I order on Friday and the parts were sitting on the porch when we got home from church Sunday morning. I can't complain about that.

is that a yes or a no?

Firstly- if you are paying for "free" shipping- how exactly is it "free"?!? But above all- Amazon sucks. They have definitely become just another soulless behemoth that really doesn't give a crap about the customer. When they were brand new they sucked even worse and I swore them off. Then they got better and the real free shipping won me over. Then the threshold for that slowly went up until Walmart forced them to lower it. Ever try to make good on the A to Z guarantee? Good luck with that. Sometimes it's easy- other times it's impossible. I actually had to cut-and-paste their own words in a claim before they would budge. Now their prices are higher than most. Even Sears, Walmart, and Home Depot beats them lately. Ever notice how much stuff you order on Ebay (with real free shipping) comes in an Amazon Prime box? The vendors are charging more on Amazon for the same exact stuff. If you are way out in the woods then by all means use them. But if you are just conditioned to mindlessly order everything from your phone then you deserve to get burnt. EDIT: For the OP- any time you check a USPS tracking number and it shows "out for delivery" at a crazy hour, or "no safe place to leave it", or "delivery exception", or some other scan that makes no sense, what that means is that your item is sitting in a PostCon in the Post Office and it has not even been "worked" (sorted) yet. But the manager is covering his *ss by scanning the entire PostCon as "worked" because with tracking customers want to know why their stuff is sitting there for days.

Damn, I heard $119. I'm definitely out at 2 beans!

that $199 must have been a typo
