Id give up a 1/4inch of tube size to have a longer glasspack...this isnt a high BHP engine, so I dont see much of a loss that would result from the smaller mufflers. JMO....

There is no need to. They make them in 2 1/2 with 8, 18, 26 inch bodies.

I figured that....but he said that he couldnt find them in longer sizes in that diameter...so....

I ran glass-packs temporarily before I got into muffler shop to have new tailpipes made up. It was on my 350 and was just headers through x-pipe a few feet of pipe to 2-1/2" glass-packs 18" long with turn-downs...and I have since removed them. The only way to describe it for me is it made my car sound like a mustang 🙁 you know where it just makes noise at every rpm and just kinda unruly IMO

i want it to be louder then my 3 chamber fllowmasters but still sound nice, so should i get the 18inch or the 12inch?
the longer they are, the less pop and crackle...but bear in mind that glass packs get louder as they age, because the packing inside eventually comes apart and blows out. Better ones will last longer than the cheaper brands. I had true duals 2.25inch pipes...22inch glass packs...and ran the exhaust out the back of my cutlass back in the day...great sound...no crackles or pops..unless I stomped it.

Without tail pipes, they will be a lot louder....just so ya know. Never tried Dyno max...but theyre all pretty much the same design, just use different metal and the better ones are welded and powder coated.

I have no idea what they would sound like on a stock 305 but I can tell you that I have bullets on my car and they are loud as F%@K. They are waay to obnoxious for the street.... but then again.... I'm a little obnoxious myself...LOL
Also keep in mind that my car is far from stock and the whole exhaust system from the header back is about 30 inches or so (including the mufflers)
It's not exactly legal and is truly a cop caller but it pretty much only sees street duty to the local cruise and stuff like that, so the cops tend to be a little more lenient during those. It's really just enough to say it's got mufflers on it.

I had some Purple hornie glass packs that bolt right to the header flange and dump under the cab...that b*st*rd was loud as hell, and the people would always ask me to shut my car off at the drive through, didn't really have any complaints about them and they sound great when i was doing 3200rpm on the freeway
