My B&M Megashifter gets stuck in 2nd gear when in ratchet mode. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I've already replaced the shift cable because it did have a kink in it, but it still gets stuck.

was it working before? If it is new make sure the b&m linkage is not hitting anything on the transmission. You shouldn't have the stock linkage still hooked up...but if you do remove it

Oh yeah i forgot...make sure your cable is routed throught the hole in the front of the shifter. Also the allen bolts towards the top of the shifter have a tendency to come loose...make sure those two bolts are tight

I removed all the stock column shift linkage before I even put the shifter in. It was working properly before I put the shifter in the car. I'm gonna go back to work on it in the morning, thanks guys.

What have you tried? Look closely at the shifter...make sure there is not anything that could be interfering with it.....you may need someone help you fine tune it.....unhook you cable from the transmission....then you put the transmission through the gears by hand......start with park and go through all the gears. If you are in park the cable should be easy to attach to the linkage when the shifter is in park....do the same for all the gears...... Also you may have to use a diffrent hole...try the other two and see if it changes

What I would do is with the cable hooked up have a friend run the ratchet through the gears .all of the gears, not just ratchet. Like the other guy said make sure you are in thre right hole with the right braket.
I just changed my cable today and noticed the selector bracket on the trans was hitting the braket that holds the cable near the trans pan. I slightly dented it out of the way and It is way smoother. you see I just chauked it up before as a crappy 2nd hand shifter. Not so.
At least start like I did and if you still have the problem you have isolated the problem to inside the car.
hope it helps

Qdub,

I would start over with the install, from step one. Sounds like the swivels may be out of adjustment, could have happened from the previous install with the kinked cable. Hopefully the shifter wasn't damaged. I would start there and work my way back. I do believe you have to have the cable go through the front hole of the shifter for it to work properly.

Another thing to check is the T-Handle - it may not be operating as it should. It may be dropping down causing the binding. Any problems with it getting out of Park, getting into Reverse? As others stated, I would try to shift the trans w/o the cable hooked up, then try to run the shifter through each position w/o the cable hooked up. Then try to ratchet it w/o the cable hooked up.
