My '83 Cutlass was originally a column shift car. A few years ago, I changed it to floor shift car w/a B&M Megashifter. Since that time, I've procured an original Cutlass center console via junkyard scavenging. Now I want a B&M Quicksilver to go in w/the console. I've been searching here and keep stumbling upon threads saying that the B&M Quicksilver will work with the factory console, but the threads are older w/most of the install pics gone. Can anyone tell me which Quicksilver part number I need. I'm thinking the 81025 is the on I'll need, but I'm seeking clarification and verification before just shelling out the cash.

Not sure about the quicksilver, but you can most likely make the megashifter work. That is if you don't mind hacking up the plate where the shifter is. I've had the hurst vmatic 2 for years and luckily found a monte console in a junker thay was in cherry shape for a whoppin $13!!!! I used the hurst plate as my template and trimmed out what space i needed, added 1" spacers to the rear shifter bolts to raise it level and it fits like a glove and looks clean with the boot installed. These are the only pics i have of it right now as my cutlass is in pieces. Hope this helps.
Scott.

How much different is the Megashifter compared to the Quicksilver? I see that they're both ratchet shifters. I suppose either one could be installed neatly into the stock console.
Being that you already have the Megashifter, why not try to make that work?
I think either way, you'll end up sacrificing the console top plate.
As Scott ^ mentioned, you'll need to shim up the rear of the shifter base to get it into a straight position. When I originally had the Hurst V-matic2 in my car, I used a piece of 1"x1" square tubing to make the extension shim. .just drilled a hole thru it for the mounting bolt...not difficult.
You will of course have to mock it up...do a dry fit, if you will before you cut into anything.

Judging by the pics of the Quicksilver, it doesn't look like it has the usual reverse lockout lever. I'm thinking it requires pulling or pushing down on the shift lever.

I don't like how the Megashifter looks w/the stock console. The Quicksilver is much more aesthetically appealing to me.

I agree with you, the Quicksilver is a better looking shifter. Installed into the console it will have a stock OEM look to it.
Would you incorporate the Quicksilver chrome top plate, or eliminate it and just fit the shifter into the stock top plate? I think it would look cool using the stock top plate...but again, it's your choice.

I want the stock appearing look as well.

We are also now offering a gear indicator for those that have put a Quicksilver shifter mounted below the console. Select from the drop down menu. Light will shine thru the gear indicator on these.

I like the illuminated indicator. With the Quicksilver shifter and indicator, it sounds like a win-win situation. The fact that it won't look aftermarket and have a nice stock appearance, gets my vote. Go for it!

The Quicksilver will look right at home in your factory Cutlass console
