woody if its a broken spring or guide why dont it have a miss or do it down track and have power valve blow out on carb i ran friday nite made 6 runs first run was great second run big backfire 3 4 5 run great 6 another backfire

changing the carb won't cure that, when it's dark tonite start the car and look for any sparks on the wires and plugs.

Going too lean too fast can induce a backfire through the carb. check accellerator pump function to be sure theyre adding fuel on heavy applications of throttle. Maybe it needs a little heavier shot.

we looked for spark around wires it was at nite when i raced and talked to my engine builder and he told me to try a diffrent carb so if it does do it can rule that out i checked for vaccuum leaks today around carb intake looked over dist and could not see anything wrong thanksfor any info

took carb apart to check it out and found that i had no power valve in rear and 73 jets u guys think that could cause it to backfire when leaving line so far only i found out to be wrong??? thanks

If you have 2 power vales that carb wasn't meant for street use. For a street car it's recommended for the rear power valve to be removed but when it is done you need to go up a few sizes on the jets. The reason it's removed is that every time the vacuum drops you'll be dumping fuel down the secondaries even when they are not needed

your issue is your carb,,, try loooking up sean murphy inductions,,, problem solved,,,,, your welcome

thanks guys borrowed a carb and test and tuned and had no problems was definately in the carb car ran good and consistant thanks again for all the input
