it's not hard to believe that article, stranger things have happened with cars....

The timeline is a little wonky to be believable, however.

The 2+2's were made for the 1986 NASCAR season which starts in February 1986.

My car is one of the later 2+2's and I think its an March/April car.

This car was built in Sept 1986 (which actually makes it an '87). The 2+2 line would have long since been shut down and they would have moved onto other things.

Unless I see a picture of the RPO sticker, I'm skeptical.

Auto-fab made some 1987 prototypes for Pontiac, And they had Aero back windows, so this car was made AFTER the 1987 prototypes, if parts delivery/running out of parts was an actual issue.

I'm not sure what date you are referring to that makes you question the article. Pontiac did not make the 2 + 2, Auto Fab made them all in 1986 and if you remove the paint on the corner near the top of the rear window you'll find bondo they used to smooth out the alteration they did on the roof line to round off the sharp line so it would match the window. The tool they used was a hammer to "form" the new roof line.

The Letter from PHS says the car was made in Sept 1986.

Wonky.

Are you insinuating Pontiac didn't make a HiPo station wagon in 1980? Because I totally have the (forged) paperwork to prove it.

Hey, if it is on paper then it has to be true! 🙂 But wait. I read this on the Internet so we know it must be true!

yes and it's a specialty car that was ordered so it's not the same a common car on the line.

The handwritten note on the PHS documentation was speculating it was a late 2+2 and Auto Fab ran out of parts (and it is one of the 1225), but that doesn't fit the time line.

The evidence points to this being a dealer (probably in the south) ordered some GP's with a Aerocoupe nose and a std Trunk. I remember there was another on E-bay years ago in North Carolina.

I would bet money there is no RPO code in the trunk and the conversion was on a "dealer" sticker. You'd think a "Pontiac guy" with 16 Pontiacs would know the RPO code for his "1 of 1" by heart.

My Serial #006 Advance Suspension Dynamics '86 T-type doesn't have a RPO code, either.

I don't really care since it does not concern me if the car is fake or not but nothing that has been posted that leads me to believe the article is not accurate.

real or not,and no matter how fast it may be.... That's just fugly.
Kill it with a stick before it breeds.
