I'm thinking the starter is fine, if its clicking, bang on it with a hammer for luck. Wiggle the cable ends and try it. It shouldn't be too hot at night if the cars not been running. Don't worry about the thickness yet. Pics help.

charge battery again, test, change starter as last option, don't just start changing parts.

Oh no never, I cant afford to change parts off a whim.
So hit the starter, Yeah that's what I was thinking its not to bad out here, your from KY so its about the same here in Louisville as in Glasgow.

If your ground to battery is smoking sounds to me like a bad ground or at least not a good one. Is there a ground strap from motor to firewall? I had this happen to me i installed a ground strap from intake to firewall and from engine to frame never had a problem since. 4gauge starter wires are fine no need for bigger just a waste of $$.

pics always help, with good lighting of course...lol

I went out there, My lights are all very briigh no dimness to them.
My radio works everything seems to be amazing.

there is a good ground going to my alt shield piece and one going to the quarter.

But when I turn the key it makes a ticking noise and all my lights go very very dim.
It takes voltage and very little amps for the lights and radio...it takes voltage and lots of amps for the starter. the fact that the lights go dim when trying to start the engine says you have no amps in the battery. Have your tried to jump it with a good battery? If it starts, Id say your battery is bad.

Its not to the firewall but I know there is one to the quarter.
I will add pictures when my batteries are charged and actually functional.

Yeah I have tried jumping it with my moms battery on her jeep.
It will give it power while key isn't turned but as soon as I turn the key it just goes back to dim.
I mean I would hope my moms battery is good enough but it might not be, I might just have to try with someone else's.

ground the black jumper cable on the alt bracket of your car not on the battery. Jump it while your moms car is running and at a higher rpm (2000).

I tried it, with no luck.
The car still made the ticking and just dimmed out.
Even while the jumpers were on both cars my car would be blacked out with no power coming to my car even though it was hooked up to her car.

Take the battery to AZ or Advance and have it checked and take the starter off and have it checked also...lot of work but you wont know for sure till its checked out. If the battery is good and the starter spins quickly and sounds good, then the cables have to be causing this. Good luck!
